Ken Kelly, Guest of Honor!
Throughout a career spanning over 40 years, Ken Kelly has achieved an international reputation as one of a handful of master painters of sword and sorcery/heroic fantasy. Kelly got his start doing covers for Famous Monsters magazines, but it wasn’t until he painted both the Destroyer and Love Gun covers for KISS that Kelly became noticed around the globe and Kelly has since painted a tremendous amount of book covers (his Conan covers being some of his most beloved works); calendars; artwork for toy companies Mattel and Mego; and album covers for bands Manowar Rainbow, Coheed & Cambria and others. In the 90s, trading card manufacturer FPG published two complete 90card sets of Kelly’s artwork along with a “Colossal Cards” set. Kelly’s artwork has appeared in other sets including Batman Master Series, Micronauts, various Marvel sets Eighteen covers for Lucas Licensing, and others. Kelly’s awesome career continued as Kelly released calendars for both Vampirella and Conan the Barbarian. Kelly is currently painting Manowar’s new album art for their summer European tour. Kelly’s latest ventures include working for Gene Simmons painting his punisher and Axe guitars under contract and also doing album covers for other heavy metal bands, Elm Street. Kelly just finished 2014’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Ace Frehley’s cover for his new album Space Invader.Other large projects are in the wings, stay tuned!
